Board games: bring one nobody knows
We've run this a while now and the pattern is always the same. The heavy strategy game someone brings stays in its box, and the thing that gets played four times is whatever takes two minutes to explain.
Codenames works in any language mix. We've had a table with Japanese, Chinese and English speakers all playing the same round without a problem.
Avoid anything where you read cards aloud quickly. That quietly excludes whoever is least confident in the language, and they won't tell you.
The cafe we use charges by the hour and has about 300 titles, so you don't need to bring anything at all. People bring things anyway.
Six is the ceiling for one table. Beyond that we split, and splitting always feels worse than it sounds.
