1. What we collect

Account: the user identifier returned by Sign in with Apple, or the phone number you provide.

Profile: nickname, photo, gender, birth year and month, Japanese level, one-line bio, interest categories.

Activity: events you create and apply to, event group chat messages, reviews, follows and blocks, reports.

Device: the push notification identifier (APNs token).

2. How your birth date is handled (important)

Your birth year and month are used only to check event requirements. They are never displayed publicly and never sent to another user's device. When you apply to an event, that event's organizer sees an age band such as "25-30" — never the exact date. This restriction is enforced by column-level permissions in the database, not merely by the app.

3. What other users can see

Visible: nickname, photo, one-line bio, interests, verification status, how many events you have hosted and joined, attendance rate, organizer rating, and review tags that have been revealed.

Not visible: birth year and month, gender, phone number, email, unrevealed reviews, and your follow and block lists.

4. Chat

Group chat is visible only to the organizer and approved participants of that event. Images sent in chat are kept in private storage and reachable only by event members through temporary links. Seven days after an event ends, the chat is archived and becomes read-only. To act on a report, we may review the specific content reported.

5. Push notifications

With your permission we store a device identifier so we can send you application results, waitlist promotions, event changes, event reminders, and review requests. You can turn notifications off in system settings at any time; the identifier for that device is deleted when you sign out.

6. Storage and sharing

Data is held in the managed database and object storage provided by Supabase. Except where required by law, we do not sell or hand your personal information to third parties. Hupeng integrates no advertising and no third-party behavioral analytics SDKs.

7. Your rights

You can change your nickname, photo, gender, Japanese level, and interests under Edit profile. Birth year and month cannot be changed yourself after registration, because they determine requirement checks — contact us if a correction is needed. You may delete your account at any time; see section 10 of the Terms of Service for what that does.
