Mt. Mitake｜cable car up, walk down

About this event

We take the cable car up and walk down. Going down is roughly 90 minutes on a proper path, so this is a hike you can do in trainers. Starting early because the cable car queue after 10am on a weekend gets long — last autumn I waited 40 minutes and it soured the whole morning. At the top there's a shrine and a small village where people actually live. Worth 30 minutes before we start down. The descent has a few stone steps that are slippery when wet. If it rained the night before, I'll say so in the group chat and we can decide then. There's a soba place near the station at the bottom. Optional, but most people end up going.
